Dakota was founded in 2006 for the express purpose to create a marketing firm where high quality, hard working people could come and build a career in sales in the investment business. Dakota's stated corporate purpose is "to grow our talent." We believe in growing every individual at our firm and we believe if our team members are growing in their careers, our clients will be very happy. Our company mantra is to be a pro every day, which means to perform in a world class manner in every facet of the business.

Gui Costin is the founder of Dakota Funds Group, a 3rd Party Marketing firm, and Dakota Network, a mobile platform for investment manager digital content.

In 2006 Gui founded Dakota Funds Group to provide sales and marketing services to boutique investment firms. Since that time Dakota has grown to 16 people and has raised over $19 billion for 15 different investment firms. The one thing Gui is most proud of is his team: “Without the longstanding, extraordinary people we have at Dakota we’d be a fraction of our current selves. It’s all about the people you have on your team and how you treat them”.

In 2016 the team at Dakota began building a mobile platform for investment management firms to post their digital content for due diligence analysts to consume anytime, anywhere. The trend of digital, mobile and self-service content is massively evident in our society. Dakota has lived a lifetime of selling investments “door-to-door” and felt the investment business needed to evolve and start to create content for professional investors where they could initially learn a lot about a strategy without having to talk to someone, get instant updates on their portfolio investments and make it accessible anytime, anywhere.

Gui is a graduate of the university of Virginia, lives in Bryn Mawr, PA with his wife, three kids and three dogs.

Dan is the President of Dakota and has been with the firm since 2008. He has primary relationship responsibility for a group of consultants, sub-advisors, independent broker-dealers and RIAs. Dan joined Dakota Funds Group as Vice President and the firm’s Investment Director, leading many of the sales and marketing efforts. Prior to joining Dakota, he was employed as a Product Director at The Hartford, the Director of Investor Relations at Penn Square Real Estate Group and a Relationship Manager for institutional clients at The Vanguard Group. Dan graduated from Villanova University in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Finance.

Chris O'Grady

As Chief Investment Officer of Dakota Funds Group, Chris O’Grady tries to blend his classic analytical training with structural trends in the marketplace. Through rigorous dialogue with allocators and asset managers, Chris and the team try and forecast where investment trends are topical and where these ideas fit in client portfolios. In addition to his role as CIO, Chris maintains responsibilities for managing relationships with distribution platforms across multiple channels. Chris has history with investment product outside the norm, particularly alternative investments - he leads many of the sales efforts for Dakota’s alternative investment products.

Chris brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the firm. Prior to joining Dakota in January 2013, Chris founded Access Distribution Partners, where he helped raise several billion in assets. He also served as the Director of Marketing for the firms BHR Fund Advisors, Guidance Capital, and Circle T Partners. From 2002-2005, Chris was employed as a trader and portfolio analyst with Coda Capital Management, where he assisted in portfolio evaluation and the firm’s wholesale marketing effort. Chris also held management positions with Bank of America Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Goldman Sachs. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from University of Notre Dame and is Series 3, 7, 63, and 65 licensed.

Tracy Rogers is Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Client Service. But to her colleagues, she’s “Command Central”. Highly focused on steering and executing the processes and procedures she put in place, Tracy ensures Dakota continues to provide an exceptional client experience. She feels fortunate to have been a part of Dakota’s growth over 10 years from a two-person company to what it is today. Her responsibilities have paralleled this growth. Tracy not only organizes the day-to-day operations, but drives the customer service part of the business. She responds to client inquiries and requests, meeting deadlines as they are defined. A face at industry trade shows and conferences, Tracy loves interacting on both sides of the business, with industry professionals and investment advisors, alike.

Prior to joining Dakota Funds Group in 2007, Tracy was Director of Client Services for Penn Square Real Estate Group and an Annuity/New Business Underwriter for Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Gettysburg College where she played on the women’s varsity tennis team for four years.

Andrew O'Shea

Partner, Director, Institutional Sales

Andrew is in Institutional Sales at Dakota Funds Group. He manages accounts, handles internal and external sales, develops new business and does research while assisting the team with all other sales efforts. Prior to joining Dakota, Andrew was employed with the Collegiate School in Richmond, VA, where he developed a framework for the youth sports programs in order to create additional exposure and auxiliary income for the school. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Commerce. Andrew was also the recipient of the Davis Fellowship Award and played for four years on the varsity men's lacrosse team. He joined Dakota Funds Group in March 2014.

​​Tim is in Institutional Sales and helps support the Dakota Sales Team. Tim has become one of our leading salesmen covering numerous RIA's, Banks, IBD's and Consultants. He manages accounts, databases on the CRM platform and coordinates internal and external sales. He assists in the relationship responsibility for the RIA, independent broker-dealer, consultant and wirehouse channels by developing opportunities through conference calls and face-to-face meetings. Tim received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Missouri in 2012. He played three years of ice hockey at MU. He joined Dakota Funds Group in 2011 after proving his leadership skills during his internship with Dakota.

​Ryan Creighton

VP, Institutional Sales

​Ryan is in Institutional Sales and helps support the Dakota Sales Team. His day-to-day responsibilities include account management, coordinating internal sales, internal database management on the CRM platform, and new business development. He also assists the Dakota Sales Team with generating analytical reports, by studying product trends, market differentiators, and historical performance. Ryan earned his B.S.B.A. from the University of North Carolina where he graduated on the All Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll. As a student athlete, Ryan played four years on the varsity men’s lacrosse team and was captain his senior year. He joined Dakota Funds Group in September 2014.

Addison West

Institutional Sales


Addison joined Dakota Funds in September 2016. As a member of the Dakota Institutional Sales Team, he brings more than 15 years of experience in institutional investment sales and marketing for asset managers. During his 12 year tenure at value equity manager Cramer Rosenthal McGlynn, Addison spearheaded sales efforts for RIAs, Banks, Insurance Companies and Sub-Advisory opportunities. Before Cramer, Addison was part of building an internal and external sales division at Pilgrim Baxter & Associates. He received a BA in Political Science from Amherst College in 2001, and was an All-American, two-time MVP on the Men’s Varsity Squash Team. In 2010 he won the National Championship in doubles squash.

Rob Robertson

Institutional Sales


Rob joined Dakota Funds in January 2016 as a member of the Institutional Sales Team. He helps to manage traditional mutual fund and ETF accounts, finds new business and assists the team with internal and external sales. He joins Dakota Funds from Franklin Square Capital Partners, where he was an internal wholesaler for four years, maintaining relationships with financial advisors in the Philadelphia region. Rob earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lafayette College in 2012. He played on the golf team all four years at Lafayette and was the captain his senior year.

Sam Henderson

Sam joined Dakota as a member of the Institutional Sales Team in February 2018. He is primarily responsible for developing new relationships with prospective clients and maintaining those client relationships. He is also involved in partner account management, assisting with sales reporting and initiatives, participating in prospective and client conference calls, meetings and the daily communications with the Sales Team and assisting with the management of Dakota’s CRM platform, Prior to joining Dakota, Sam was an Analyst on the Business Development team at Hamilton Lane. He earned his B.S. in Finance from the Carrol School of Management at Boston College in 2016, where he played four years on the men's squash team and was team captain his junior and senior year.

Manjinder Kaur

As Senior Analyst at Dakota Funds Group, Manjinder Kaur is in daily communications with the sales team, providing well-researched analytical support. MJ collaborates behind the scenes with sales team members reporting and updating them on comparative data she has collected. While continuously collecting, analyzing, and interpreting investment-related statistics, assets, or financial statements, MJ also administers the team’s CRM database, And, she also assists the marketing department with the creation and maintenance of all marketing collateral.

MJ joined Dakota Funds from Aberdeen Asset Management, where she was responsible for database management and assisting consultants with their data needs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University (minored in Women’s Studies) and an MBA in Strategic Management from Villanova University.

Robert L. Burch, II

Creative Director

Mr. Burch is the Creative Director for Dakota Funds Group and is responsible for the creation and maintenance of promotional items for the company. He is also involved with various initiatives related to the Dakota Network (Dakota’s Online Due Diligence Platform) and Dakota Studios; particularly the oversight of podcast and video production. Prior to joining Dakota in 2018, Mr. Burch started an on-demand service and furniture moving business, Blue Truck after receiving a grant from Gettysburg College’s Entrepreneurial Followship program. He successfully ran the company until he closed its doors in September 2017. Mr. Burch earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English from Gettysburg College, May 2017.

Tim Mitchell

Senior Director of Technology

Tim joined Dakota Funds in August 2017. As the Senior Director of Technology, he brings more than 13 years of strategic IT experience in the investment business including significant project management. Tim is in charge of developing, implementing and maintaining new technical solutions, and vendor management. Prior to joining Dakota, he was the IT manager at Equity Trust Company where he oversaw multiple applications for business lines, led change management, andimplemented new software for the self directed IRA company. Earlier on in his career he deployed new software for multiple branches of Alliance Bank and built custom reports at Coho Partners, an investment manager. Tim received a BA in Economics from Wheaton College. He enjoys playing trumpet and chess.
